HCM Processes and Forms Unable to approve from NWBC HTML

Dear All,

I have been unable to "Work item can only be executed using the Portal and the UWL "

Work item can only be executed using the Portal and the UWL"

I have added entries in SWFVISU though this needs to be done only incase of portal, but here we are using NWBC.

My question is can NWBC be used for HCM P&F?, if yes then is this a standard issue which should be reported to SAP.

    Thanks All,

    the issue got resolved by maintaind entries in table IBO_C_WF_TTAC.

      Hi Ramesh,

      Maintain the task number, incase you are using FPM the task numbers start with 3 if I am right.

      for example




      this should work.

    Hi Raghavendra Prabhu,

    You should be able to use HCM P&F with NWBC.

    From SAP help

    Options for Using the HR Administrator Role

    The HR Administrator role is available in the following versions:

    • HR Administrator in SAP NetWeaver Business Client
    • HR Administrator in SAP NetWeaver Portal

    Please refer here for details.

    For setting up the POWL based inbox in NWBC:

    Customizing for Personnel Management, you have made the settings under  HR Administrative Services  HR Administrator  Set Up Display in Central Worklist

    • Check if the task you are using is configured in table IBO_C_WF_TAS.

      There are many more configurations surrounding this table.

      Please check them. You should able to get it working by setting these up correctly.

      These settings I guess are already documented for MSS NWBC role here already.

      These settings should have been in place if you are using Adobe forms - together the standard tasks. However for FPM based forms SAP might have missed these entries. In that case you can report this issue to SAP. However you can still configure the settings on your own using corresponding BO_C_WF_*C tables.

    Hi Raghavendra,

    Please check the below links regarding HCM process and forms and NWBC

    The issue is generally observed due to a problem with UWL XML Configuration. You have to add new task created by you and for this task you have to specify which page you want to open. You have to give PCD path of the page that points to WD Application for your task type.

    Some additional information:

    If the configuration of the backend system is done such that the work items or tasks from the backend system should be displayed in the UWL then you need to check if they are displayed in the UWL Inbox. The most probable path of the UWL Inbox would be Home > Work > Universal Worklist. If the items are configured in such a way that the tasks should appear in the UWL and they are not appearing in the UWL Inbox then I would suggest you have to recheck your UWL configuration again. If you have the configuration so that the approval should be displayed in the Emplyee Self-Service/Manager Self_service tabs on the portal then this is not a portal UWL issue. You may have to check your configuration why they are not appearing under these tabs. The message "Work item can only be executed using the portal and the UWL." seems to me that it says that such kind of work items can only be executed on the portal and the UWL, which means the access to these work items can happen only on the portal UWL. In this scenario if you find the work items in the UWL Inbox try to access them and see if they are accessible.

    Mu doubt is that the issue could be with the configuration itself. check if you have configured such that these work items are pulled into the portal UWL and if the configuration is already in place check if the work items are available in the portal UWL or not.

    The reason might be that for any reason the items picked up from backend are not displayed in

    The UWL iView, although they are pulled from the UWL service itself. This might be due to some setting which you have made within the XMLs existing in the UWL with High priority.

    You can temporarily remove this XML file from the UWL and clear the UWL cache and check. Most probably the items will show up in the UWL after doing so.
