ACL authorizations / user status authority key

Dear expert,

I have a doubt related to ACL auth  in PS that I hope someone can help me.

If you have ACL auth in a project, does auth user key works?

I mean if you need to set one user status you would need WRITE ACL author in the WBS + authorization key in your roles? Or everybody that have WRITE can set this user status?

ASba resume, if you have ACL author the other authority objects ( like authority key) are checked?

Thanks in advance!

ACL is over and above the usual authority objects which gets checked while performing any transactions. It simple means that even if i have SAPALL authorisations but through the ACL if my id is not having WRITE activity in ACL of a WBS element i wont be able to make any changes to that WBS element.

In effect you can say that authority objects are at client level and ACLs work at object level.

For your case lets say you have authorization setting a particular user status XYZ.

you have 2 wbs elements A and B

for A you have READ acl

for B you have WRITE acl

You can set the user status for B and not for A.

Hope that clarifies.

Hi Saurabh,

Thanks for your imput and confirmation. I have implemented ACL authorization in PPM objects but here the approval of the project can be done assigning status with different approvers.

Now I was analysig ACL authorizations in PS, but for me is a big handicap loose the auhorization to set status.

Not sure if you agree with me.

Thanks for your help!!

Agreed Clara,

I have worked with PPM objects as well. There is some difference in the way ACL is designed for PPM and that how it works with PS. PPM is more object oriented and hence more flexible. While you have the option of switching OFF acl completely in PS, within PPM you dont have that facility. Having said that in PS we can have a tighter control with a combination of authority objects + acls.
