Cannot read the destination from the BI to the Solution Manager

Hi all

I am having 2 systems - SAP Solution Manager 7.1 and SAP NetWeaver 7.3 and the corresponding RFC connections betweeen them.
I am trying to configure the BW based reporting over the test management of the SolMan system using the solman_workcenter t-code.Idea is that the external BW system should be used for reporting.

The RFC connection from Solution Manager to BW seems to be fine. But the field, where the RFC Connection from BW to Solution Manager should be entered, remained empty and is now shown as inactive.
That's why an error: "Cannot read the destination from the BI to the Solution Manager" occurs.

Question: Has anyone an idea if there is another way to add/edit the RFC Connection between BW and Solution Manager? (note: The rfc connection exists itself in the sm59!)

Thanks and regards!

Hello Elitsa,

Not sure but check on page 10 https://websmp102.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000514602011E.PDF there some info about RFC connection.

Provide trace from SM59 for BI configuration.

You have also possibility to configure local BW reportingo on solman

Interactive Reporting is a class of programs that facilitates and manages transaction oriented

application, typically for data entry and retrieval transaction processing. Interactive reporting feature generates

the report directly from the data from Transaction Oriented Application. Analytics manager can create the

reports and can share It with different users.

With Solution Manager 7.1, no separate SAP BI system is required for reporting. Instead, the SAP Net Weaver

stack that comes with SAP CRM itself can be used in order to run Interactive reports on the same machine. In

order to activate these Interactive reporting functions, the following steps are required.

This section describes the steps necessary at first time system setup, where only one first source system

client will be connected to the BI client.

The marks [SOLMAN] or [BI] at section headlines describe if the specific setting has to be made in the

SOLMAN or the BI client.

Hi Elitsa,

In SAP Solution manager we able to map two type of SAP BW system for reporting.

1. SAP BW client in SAP Solution Manager system itself

2. Separate SAP BW system.

So If you are using the separte SAP BW system for reporting, map the details in solman_setup -> Basic configuration -> 2.2 Specify SAP BW system

Hi all,

thank you for the suggestions.
@Raja: exactly this is where the rfc fields were inactive.
@Kamil: the idea was despite of this existing BW in the solman system to use an external one for reporting.

However, I will just use the internal one for now, and I will try later to connect them.

Thanks and regards!

Hi Elitsa,

If you go into change made you can able to reconfigure the same by clicking on the particular time.

Please check that option as well.

Hi Elitsa,

you can check the RFC's from the solution manager system itself using solman_workcenter transaction.

Goto managed system configuration and try to maintain the BW system, you will have the RFC connections step. Please try to check the RFC's from there. Hope it should help.
