Materials with price zero

Hello experts:

I'd like to request your advice with a particular scenario i'm working with and haven't been able to fin a solution with documentation or previous posts.

The company i work for creates purchase orders from purchase requisitions for a particular vendor that sells each product with different accesories, these accesories are free but they must be specified in the PO to be included with the main product.

I know that i could activate the "Free" flag for each of the accesories but sometimes the orders have an enourmous amount of items and this makes hard to mark the flag one by one.   I can't create items with item category "T" since the purchase req. doesn't allow it.

Do you have any suggestion??  Any imput will be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Have you tried ,free materials as non valuated materials at that plant

That is , have a separate material type for these free materials (non valuated) -OMS2 - only quantity update.

and use these materials as variant .

Hope this should resolve your issue

I haven't considered this option, i'll do some testing with it.

Thanks for your reply!

Hi Antonio,

If your concern is to default all the 500 line Items as free goods at a time then you can select one item as free good and click on fast change

Hi,

You need to follow these steps:

1. Create a PO say 500 line items. Assuming 1st line item is main material.

2. Select Free Column in PO and click on Fast CHange icon given below the item overview tab. Give the specifications if your actions in this like select YES - X

3. Untick the first line item and save

This would make all the 499 line items as free.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Before designing solution - let you know what is Price Control of your material master as selecting  Free indicator in purchase order will not solve your problems!

Just try with selecting Free indicator in two purchase orders for two different materials of having price control “S” and price control "V".Cross check accounting entries during goods receipt, check stock quantity for both materials.

1.In this case you can try with Free goods scenario. When you create a PO for the main material the system will automatically create free goods for the accessories.

2.If flagging the multiple items is the only difficulty then you can use fast change icon in PO by selecting the column free goods. They will be enabled in one go for all the accessories & then you can untick the main material

Hi Murugan:

Thanks for your reply, i've thought about those solutions but there are problems with both:

1) Free goods only allows to add 1 material other than the main one and for this scenario there could be several different free materials.

2) This could be an option but sometimes there's more tan 1 main item in the PO still the user has to go one by one checking which ones must be unselected and this can cause a mess.

No in free goods you have the option to enter in multiple materials please check in MBN1. You enter the condition records in MBN1 & double click it will open another window where you can enter multiple materials .

Please try it will work i have done it before

Cheers
