User passwords at CUA setup time

Hello,

I'm looking forward to setuping CUA.

Lets say CUA is system ABC, child systems are XYZ1 and XYZ2.

User John exists in both XYZ1 and XYZ2 with same username, but with different passwords.

Now the question is, if I setup CUA and pull John to the central system ABC, which password rule will apply?:

  1. John will be able to logon to both XYZ1 and XYZ2 with the same password, lets say, from system XYZ1.
  2. John will be able to logon to XYZ1 with his XYZ1 password, and to XYZ2 with XYZ2 password.

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Nerijus.

HI,

the passwords are not imported into central system when you add a new child system. So John will have to use his old password to log on to corresponding child system. You will be to reset password from central system in any child system.

Cheers

Thanks,

What if user John has Telephone number 1234 in system XYZ1 and in XYZ2 his telephone number has value 5678. Which number is pulled into the Central CUA?

if the user has different telphone numbers in different systems, you have an inconsisteny anyway. the data exisitning in the central system is kept then.

Adress data cannot differ in different systems. this would be similar if in system A his first name is John and in another its Jim. this is simply not possible.

Only workaround is to set such data in SCUM to 'local' modification only, then you loss teh advantage of central administration for that field.

Thanks, but what if:

  1. user does not yet exist in central system? I have to make all values same in XYZ1 and XYZ2 before pulling into CUA?
  2. user exists in central, but his telephone number field is empty (without a value)?
