Hi All,

What is repeat delta ? when will we use it? In which situation we get Duplicate records?

How to overcome it?

What is OLTP variable? How it is useful in Delta/Repeat Delta mechanisms.

Any link pls provide.

Please clarify my doubts..

    Hi srilaxmi,

when ever we run a delta load from bw side it picks data from delta queue (rsa7).

    Delta queue maintains two images

    1) Delta

    2) Repeat Delta

when ever delta loads fails we basically run a repeat delta which picks all the repeat delta images (Present delta records + previousely failed delta records)

    from Delta Queue(RSA7).

if u run repeat delta carefully u 'll never get duplicate records.if u have any issues on this u can

use ODS to Eliminate Duplicate records.

In the infopackage - data selection tab u can see the different fields which we can use to extract the data selectively from the source systems and when u want provide the values to these fields at run time u use OLTP Varibles. i.e u have to specify the value 7 to use this OLTP Variables.

There is no link between Delta/Repeat Delta mechanisms & OLTP variable.

      Hi Srilaxmi,

In the Infopackage -> DataSelction Tab --> Goto 8 Coloumn i.e, ( Type ( Variable Change to Selection Values with Back Ground Processing ) ). Keep Cursor there in that Column and Press (F4) and then you will see the options 5,6,7(OLAP Variables ) and then Select the OPtion (7) to use OLAP Varialbles and you will have a screen where it will ask you to specify the OLAP Variable which you want to use.

    Hi Srilaxmi,

According to my knowledge ,whenever a delta load fails , we can re schedule the infopackage for delta,at that time,we get a pop up asking for repeat the delta ( this could be done only if data sources Support the repeat delta mechanism in R/3 ) . then if we go ahead , we get all the records of previous delta (means delta that is failed ) and even the latest records.usually we dont get duplicate records for this.We get them incase of repair Request.

Regarding the OLTP Variable : I'm not sure.

    Thanks,

    Krish.

      HI ALL,

      Thanks for ur replies.

In the processing tab of the infopackage already selected the 3 processing type (only PSA and select the check box 'Upadte Subsequently the data targets').

But there is no check box i.e ignore duplicate records.

I am Using 2.0B. I think this for master records only , Is there any option to control Duplicate records for TRnasaction DATA

      Thnks & Regards,

      Srilaxmi

    Hi,

U can choose the option in the infopackage level. U will have a check box- ignore duplicate records in the processing tab of the infopackage.

For deltas.. u can check whether the extraction has been completed or not.. If yes try to findout the reason for which the load has failed.. if not then analyze the cause for the failure and then take the repeat of last delta after deleting the bad requests from ur data target and do ensure then u have to chnage the QM status to RED in the monitor when u go for the repeat delta.

When u go for the repeat delta then it will takes ur Old delta as well as the new delta data records.

    Hope it helps-

    Hi,

The repeat functionality works this way:

Whenever RSA7 que is emtyed by a delta load, the data in the que is saved in a backup table. Next time You try deltaloading the system validates if the previous load is with green status. In this case, the backup is overwritten by the new deltas and so on. If the previous load failed, the system keeps the backup of the prev. deltadata until the load is correct.

There is no otherway...ask the user to enter correct data instead of duplicate records.

    Hi Srilakshmi,

U will get Ignore Double data records as per the DataSource transfers the information about whether it has the potential to transfer double data records. This information is transferred to the scheduler when a new InfoPackage is created. In the scheduler, you have the option of determining how the system behaves with double data records
