Rename Column SE16/SE16N

Hi Experts,

I have created a ztable and added several columns.

I subsequently had to rename one of the columns, however the new column name has not appeared and the old 1 is still there in se16/se16n.The new column name is there in sm30 though.

I've looked around the forum and followed the suggested steps but it has not worked for me.

I've used se14, i’ve used the table maintenance generator to regenerate the ztable and I’ve checked in the function group that the heading is now the correct name.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Mike

Hello,

After you change column name, request you to delete Screen number from Table maintenance and generate new screen number.

Then go to SE14 and click on "Activate and Adjust Database".

Hi,

The description of the fields comes from the Data Element.

Check in Data Element of the corresponding field, whether the short, medium and long texts are correctly maintained and is activated.

Hello,

You don't required to change the Data Element descriptions. In table Maintenance you can go to the screen and directly change the text name.

Eg. If I am using char20 as DE then just to get the text I will not create ZDE. I would like to modify OP screen field name.

  • Chek in SE11 activation log of the table.
  • Execute an ok_code like $SYNC.
  • Call some reports like BALVBUFDEL.
  • On SE16 press Execute on first screen to regenerate program.

If all fails i log-off from the system, take a 5 mins break & check again. Worked for me a couple of time though
