Can you explain what you mean launching using Guest account. Does this error appear while trying to login using "Guest" users or you mean any user which are not in Administrator group.Does it appear when the users are trying to open any universe in IDT?

As you have already found this is certainly related to security so please check if the user group which the users are associated to having correct rights for IDT in the CMC like retrieving Universe and so on .

Cheers!!

Guest account means i have created a user and given BI access to that user while using that BI client tool (IDT) iam getting the mentioned error.

and i tried as you said by seeing the above attached window but iam not getting the arrows in between to add the universe design users please check the attached screen shot

Thats interesting. If you are not already try using Admin account also try from a different browser.

Also try from the same computer which throws the error with Admin account to rule any possibility of issue related to the installation. Also if possible try out what JRK Prasad suggested if that makes any difference.

Cheers!!

Please check the below SAP note for the same behavior.

1621680  - BI 4.0 Error: "JVM terminated.Exit code=-1" when launching Client Tool

Cause

  • Runtime exception
  • The arguments for the java runtime environment (jvm) have a maximum permitted size

  Resolution

  • Lower the max. memory JVM option by editing the InformationDesignTool.ini, and decrease the default size of -Xmx768M to -Xmx256M

The java heap settings are in the InformationDesignTool.ini file in this directory:

C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86

Change

-Xms64M

-Xmx768M

to the desired values and reload the IDT.

-Xms is the initial (starting) memory size
-Xmx is the maximum memory size
