Cannot update Crystal reports from version 12.0.0.549

Hi,

I recently had to reinstall Crystal Reports 2008 (12.0.0.549).

All my efforts in trying to update it to the latest available SP has failed.
The files I have found are on this site: http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-27917 and I have tried both the 12.0 and 12.1 ClickOnce and MSI.

The 12.0 update gives me the following:

The product cannot be installed on the same system as Crystal Reports 2008

The 12.1 update gives me the following:

The product cannot be installed on the same system as Crystal Reports 2008

It would seem (based on the name of the above two files) that 12.1 is the same file as 12.0 (CRRuntime_12_0_mlb.msi) mean there is no valid 12.1 update file. Can this be the case? If so where can I find the correct file?

Hi Ignacio,

You might be trying to install a Full Build version rather than an incremental build.

You would need to un-install the current version of CR 2008, then install SP1 Full Build and then go to SP2 using the incremental build.

Thanks for your reply.

All updates for Crystal Reports 2008 is found on the page I linked previously. I don't know if it's a full build or incremental I downloaded.

What I do know is that 21.0 and 12.1 seems to be the same file.

The files on that page are RUNTIME files.

I actually uninstalled Crystal as you suggested and the installastion of these runtime files were successful. But as I said (and found out) they are runtime installas and I now have no Crystal Report 2008 program installed anywhere.

It would seem to me that the files here are all runtime files and no updates to the actual Crystal Reports 2008 program.

To download the CR Designer go to http://service.sap.com and log on with with your S-User credentials.

Once you log-in to SMP, go to:

Software Downloads > Analytics Solutions > Browse the Analytics Portfolio > Support Packages and Patches > Crystal Reports > Crystal Reports 2008 V1.

The table should have all Patches and Service Packs for CR 2008.

For Full Builds go to:

Software Downloads > Analytics Solutions > Browse the Analytics Portfolio > Installation and Upgrade > Crystal Reports > Crystal Reports 2008 V1 > Installation.

The table here lists all Full Builds available (SP6 is the highest and you might want to install that).
