Issues in loading Survey data...

Hi All,

We have datasource Reporting: Survey Results (0WS_C01), wherein we are loading doing full update from CRM database. It is scheduled to load daily in the morning. We have observed that the data is getting loaded every day successfully, but instead of overwriting the existing records, its appending to the existing record set.

We have not made any selections in Data selection, Data Targets.

In the Processing Tab first option PSA & then into Data Target is selected.

Update mode is Full Update.

I have tried to do Delta upload, but the system is not accepting Delta initialisation request and on creating initialisation infopackage I am getting following message "DataSource 0SVY_DATA_1 cannot be updated in an InfoCube"

Hope someone have a solution for this,

Hi Vijay,

If you load data into the cube, then you have only 'Add' option. During load into ODS you have both, Overwrite and Add options. DO you load data into the cube?

Yes, I am directly writing to the Cube.

Do you mean to say that I have to load the data in ODS, and then update Cube?

If Yes, do I need to take any precautions ?

Hi Vijay,

Yes, one of the options is to load to ODS, then to cube. In this case you can initialize delta processing. Don't see any special precautions to be taken.

Another possible option to delete previous requests (or make a selective deletion in the cube).

Everything depends on the data specific.

Do you upload daily all information, i.e., every day information on particular data should be overwritten?

Or part of the information should be added, while another one - overwritten?

Or...?

Hi Eugene,

I am loading complete data from CRM and it has to overwrite all the existing data. How can I schedule deletion of all the previous requests ?

Will Process Chain help in such cases using Complete Deletion of Data Target contents? (...though the option is available, I am using it for the right purpose)

OR

Creation of ODS and set relation between ODS & Cube would be ideal. (Create new ODS similar to Cube and set for automatic update)

I will have to try both the options for the first time and please let me know which one is better so that I can search for some documentations before proceeding further,
