Dear All,

We are using Valuated Sales Order Stock for MTO/MTS Scenario with PP. Now, we want to use Project WBS for Monitoring and tracking cost of Projects using Project System and PS Cash Management Integration (WBS will be attached in Sales Order Line Item).

Let me know which Stock I need to use for this in Project Profile. i.e. Valuated Stock/Non-Valuated Stock or No Stock.

Please note that we are using Project WBS Only for better cost monitoring and for high level reporting.

Kindly Provide me your comment on same.

Regards

Hi Atul,

the consulting note 533207 is a good one, should give you more details.

From my point of view, to fulfill your requirement the valuated stock should be used. The main purpose of valuated stock is to have more detailed costs information

Kind regards,

Zhenbo

Dear Zhenbo,

Thank you for reply.

Currently, we have tested with Valuated Project Stock setting in Project Defination. But, we are getting error (KI:346 ) saying valuated Project Stock not allowed with Valueted Customer/Sales Order Stock during Sales Return Cycle.

Let me know your comment on this

Try using another project valuation class in Accounting 1 view of  material master for your project stock monitoring and normal valuation class for sales order stock.

Let me know if it serves the purpose.

Dear Mahendra,

Thank you reply. But, its doesn't help.

Actually we are using value sale order stock and now with PS we want to use account assigment WBS in Sale Order for costing purpose.

I have try to use account assignment wbs with Non-Valuated Project stock settings in Project Definition. In this case, I am able to process my Sales Order till Customer Payment correctly. Also, return sales order without any error. But, during PGI (Sales Delivery), its not posting accout document. i.e. Its updating Sales Stock with any value.

Let me know you comments.

The difference  between Valuated Sales Order Stock and Valuated Project Stock is which stock segment holds the inventory until a GI is posted.  It is either held in a Sales Order stock segment or a WBS stock segment.  It cannot be in both at the same time.  The Valuated part means that the inventory value is held in a balance sheet G/L account.  At GI the inventory account is credited and the expense account is debited.

With Non-Valuated Project Stock the value of the material is posted as an expense to the WBS element immediately at GR.  When GI is posted it is a quantity only posting with no FI document.

If you account assign a sales order item to a WBS element you should use Valuated Project Stock and not Sales Order Stock. All of the costs and revenues will flow through the project.

Another option to consider is to use a statistical WBS element which is used for reporting purposes only.

Dear Ken,

Thank you for reply.

As my business requirement is to have Valuated Sales Stock, we can't have project stock.

The Purpose of having WBS is for better cost monitoring, which with statistical wbs possible but, again we cant directly assign statistical WBS in SD Order as its required Internal Order Assignment.

The Current testing which we did with Setting as Non-Valuated Project stock or No Stock  in Project Definition and Req Class setting as Special Stock E, Acct Assignment M with Consumption Indicator as "  " (Blank) or "P" will serve the purpose with real WBS assignment and Value Sales Order stock. That is we can do PGI from Valuated SD Stock.

Only, issue we were facing is during sales return now. I.e. If I create a return sales order with Invoice its doesn't generating accounting document during PGI (Return stock will be have quantity but no value against SD order). But, we do return sales order with ref. respective sale order its generating Accounting document during PGI (Return stock will have quantity and value against SD Order)

Let me know comments on same.

"The Purpose of having WBS is for better cost monitoring, which with statistical wbs possible but, again we cant directly assign statistical WBS in SD Order as its required Internal Order Assignment."    Are you account assigning an Internal Order to Sales Order line item?  I don't understand.

If you are using valuated sales order stock where is the cost of sales being posted?

It doesn't make sense to use Project Systems if you are only using a single WBS element.  The WBS hierarchy structure allows a more detailed cost segregation.  But it doesn't sound like you are doing that.

You should be able to get the detailed reporting you need from the sales order.
