Costing Implementation

We are running on Version 4.6C and would like to roll out a Costing function on SAP. Which could be the most convenient way?

I am looking at creating costing objects (Statistical Orders - with revenue) for individual Assets and tasks to probably be able to post all depreciation and maintenance costs as well as collect revenues (where applicable).

Could there be a more appropriate way to handle this within the 4.6C environment?
