Performance and Hanging Issue

Former Member

Dears,
My company was using SAP Business One 8.81 PL07 but 2 months ago, the hard of server is crashed and we deploy a new server with SAP recommended configuration. We also upgraded the sap business one to 8.81 PL08.

After some days, the live database was hanging (blank screen and the users could not to enter it), once in a day and for solving, it needed to restart the server completely.

The support company connected to the server and  defined the ports of SAPBO and SQL SERVER  in firewall and the problem was solved mostly.

But in last week, the live database was hanged twice again.

Could you please tell me what problem is and how i can stable the database?

It's considerable that the test database (a backup version of live database), doesn't have any problem.

Extra Info:

1) The database size : around 17 GBs (I've placed the mdf and ldf files in separated partitions.)

2) number of concurrent Users in a day: around 70 persons (with citrix and LAN)

3) Server specification: 2 xenon CPUs and 48 GB RAM and RAID 0 for OS and RAID 10 for DB

4) I run some tasks by RSP 2.4 weekly for example re-indexing DB, shrinking sbo_common DB, clearing logs and so,

5) I shrink log file by sql server when the log file will be growth.

6) I set the DB backup plan for every 6 hours.

Thank you.

Hi,

Kindly monitor your resource monitor program for the consumption if the memory 48 is over its

capacity then you need to upgrade your memory or server.

Does the citrix users are using the same server? or different machine? Recommended

citrix users should be in different server.

Although you created a test database but you didn't try the 70 users to log-in.

You said your database is 17Gig, did you tried implementing the data archive feature?

Thank you.

Hi Kayvan,

First of all you cannot compare performance matrix between production db which has active user’s connections and Test db.

To guide you properly I need answer of below questions;

  1. Which hard drive do you have in your production server, SAS or SATA and what RPM it has?
  2. At what event do you getting hanging problem at the time of user log-in?
  3. Have you checked the SQL Server Activity Monitor? Is there any deadlocks occur in your database?

Below are some recommendations which may help you;

  1. Stop license service and if you have multiple Network cards in your server which usually server has then disable ALL Len cards except your main Network card and start SAP license services.
  2. Try to run Re-Index, Update_statistics , anc DBCC Checkdb command directly on SQL server rather than executing them via RSP

Hi,

Change the Backup plan during the minimal user access time like Early Morning or Night. And check and clear any dump files available in the log.

Hi,

When B1 crash, there is dump file created. In your case, it may not be true since your user only get hanged.

Because you have so many concurrent users, you need to restrict user to run sophisticate query with huge output. Those should run on test database.

Reduce your backup schedule to only midnight.

Thanks,

Gordon

Hi Kavyan,

When you go to LC10 on liveCache server, what is the status of Automatic Log Backup? Is it ON or OFF?

I would like to upgrade my DB but we use an localization add-on that developed by a SAP partner in Venezuela and unfortunately, their add-on is not still supporting the last version of SAPBO.

thank you.
