    Use the following information,

    http://<host>:<port>/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot//com.sap.portal.navigation.portallauncher.default

URL parameter for the user id will be j_user and password is j_password. Pass additional parameter j_authscheme value will be default.

Other parameters can have anyvalue based on your requirements.

    Hope it helps!!

Thanks very much for the reply.

I am still not able to get the connection test through. Is some service configuration ID required? Strangely, the connection test does not show any results, neither failed nor successful. Can someone clarify please?

Put the above mentioned URl with all request parameters in internet explorer and check what happens.

If it logs you in properly, then there is some problem with your configuration. I assume that you are using EP6.
