SUM error Unable to determine SL Tool Library from path

Running SUM on V7R1 and have error SAPup broke during phase UPLOAD_REQUEST in module PREP_EXTENSION / Extension module

Error Message: Unable to determine SL Tool Library from path '/usr/SUM_TOOL/SUM/abap/SLTLIB'.

Which is indeed true.  I tried to download but only find one archive on the SWDC, namely SAPK-200BGINCTSPLUG. Do we have to have SL Toolset?  Where do I get it?

Thank you,

-Margie

you did already as described in the manual (install and start SUM on IBM-i) ???

running loadlibs creates a Library (e.g. SAPSLT) and this is added to library list before starting SUM

chapter 5 ,   running the SUM

5.3.  starting the SUM

3.

To load the update tools, log on to the host on which the primary application server instance is

running as user QSECOFR  and enter the following command:

QSH CMD('/<update directory>/loadlibs <SID>')

where <update directory>  is the /usr/sap/<SID>/SUM  directory.

N O T E

The load program creates the update library with the default name

SAPSLT  (corresponds to <TOOLLIB> ).

N O T E

If you want to use a different name for the update library, enter the following command:

QSH CMD('/<update directory>/loadlibs <SID> toollib=<TOOLLIB>)

4.

To start the Software Update Manager, log on to the same host as user

<SID>ADM  and enter the following commands:

ADDLIBLE SAPSLT

STARTSUM

???

Hi Christoph - I don't have that manual.  Where do I get it?

Thanks,

yes,

to find manuals or other stuff in SAP websites is sometimes not easy:

start here:

http://service.sap.com/sltoolset

Please use the link to the Software Logistics Toolset 1.0 in the menu left hand

(below SL Toolset)

scroll down to the bottom

choose and open SUM -

then choose IBM-i  and the docs depending on your sap-system / stack

(ABAP, ABAP+JAVA, or JAVA-only)

=======================================================

maybe you need more inst-guides or update-guides

http://service.sap.com/instguides   => SAP NetWeaver

I got the new document, loaded the upgrade tools, and completely restarted the upgrade.  Library SAPSLT now exists.  Once again SUM gets to the Configuration phase and gets error SAPup broke during phase UPLOAD_REQUEST in module PREP_EXTENSION / Extension module Error Message: Unable to determine SL Tool Library from path '/usr/sap/PMD/SUM/SLTLIB'.

When I go to path /usr/sap/PMD/SUM there is no SLTLIB there. Should there be a directory or file by that name?  Why didn't it get created by SUM?

Thank you,

Margie

To load the update tools, log on to the host on which the primary application server instance is

running as user QSECOFR  and enter the following command:

QSH CMD('/<update directory>/loadlibs <SID>')

did you ran this as user QSECOFR ?

==========================================

do you have a library with name SAP_TOOLS with some ILE-Objects?

do you have an IFS-file '/usr/sap/PMD/SUM/loadlibs'

==========================================

please look at log-files in '/usr/sap/PMD/SUM/abap/log/....

search in the latest logs if there is error

*sigh* long day and too many windows open.  I must have run it as sidadm because that's who owned lib SAPSLT.

I stopped the upgrade, deleted SAPSLT, the recreated it as QSECOFR with the copmmand above. Which created the SLTLIB directory under /usr/sap/PMD/SUM.

Upgrade is running again from point of error.

Thanks so much,

Margie
