Excel 10 as datasource won't work with Crystal Reports latest version

I just purchased the lastest version of Crystal Reports and find that it isn't compatible with Excel 10 as a datasource.  If I change the file to Excel 97, then it works.  Am I doing something wrong?

Hi,

You have to use an ODBC Connection to Excel. When we released this version and support MS did not have a native driver for it so we could only connect through ODBC to Excel.

When creating your System DSN be sure to use this driver:

Should then work for you.

Hi Mike,

If you're using a 64-bit machine, go to:

C:\Windows\SysWow64 and open odbcad32.exe

In here, configure a DSN pointing to the Excel file using the driver specified by Praveen.

If you're using a 32-bit machine, simply go to start > run > type in odbcad32 and create the DSN.

Once the DSN has been created, you can go to the Database Expert in CR > Select ODBC(RDO) and select the DSN created above.
