Optional Date Prompt build on BEx universe

Former Member

I have created a Webi report on Bex query. The report has Optional date filter in Bex side as "Date From" and "Date to".It works fine when i enter both "Date From" Field as well as "Date to" field.

The problem arises when i enter only "From Date" Date.It returns whole record.Similarly when i enter only "to Date" field and keep the "from" field as blank it returned whole record set.

While running the query on BEx environment i was able to get the correct records keeping either of the field Blank.

Is there any solution available?

is the BEx variable defined as an interval is is this defined as two separate BEx variables in the BEx query ?

Which means you need a start and an end

i get the prompt as start and end date here too and it works correctly when both the field are filled for a date range or both the field are blank.

it fails when either of the from or to field is only filled.

ex:

from date:1/1/2013

to date:

or

from date:

to date:1/1/2013

The above condition worked fine in BEx report but here it results in retrieval of complete data from the BEx universe without checking for the date ranges.

Hi,

when you leave both values empty then the variable is simply ignored.

in the Web Intelligence case you will have to fill in both values

Hi,

Web Intelligence is not the equivalent to BEx. Web Intelligence uses the BEx query as a data source.

so just because BEx Analyzer supports certain workflows, that does not mean that Web Intelligence is capable of the same.

The equivalent to BEx are the Analysis products
