PI Suppoting Japanese character

Hi All,

I have a issue with reading JAPANESE charcter in PI. SAP PI 7.1 service pack 8.

I have triggered an IDOC with japanese charcter (from unicode ERP system). There is no error anywhere but the message mapping log shows that the japanese charcter gets converted into JUNK character. On proper investigation we observed that the Japanese language is not installed on the PI server. We are in the process of getting this installed But I need help on this issue. Is there any possibility of any alternative.

Thanks

Anand

Hi Anand

Have you tried Character Encoding...

Check the below document.

Hi Abhijit,

I am aware about using codepage conversion. But my query is regarding supporting of japanese character on PI server when the japanese language pack is installed.

The problem is that currently the script is being changed to junk values.

so wanted a confirmation if its only because the language is not supported or anything else??

what I assume is that codepage conversion will work only when PI will actually read the japanese script.

Thanks

Anand

Hi Anand,

if your PI system is based on Unicode (and I assume so), there should be no difference whether Japanese is installed or not - hence I do not think that your problem is caused by the missing language installation.

What kind of data are you referring to ? How do you look at it ?

Hi Nils,

I am ahead few steps now. Actually my PI was not supporting japanese script, After I got the japanese language installed now its able to read but still facing issues.

My scenario is that an EDI message is being generated at seeburger and from seeburger message comes into PI. which is not readable. Now I am in a doubt that if its seeburger which is not supporting the japanese characters.

Any pointers how to check it.

Thanks

Anand

Hi Anand,

According to Seeburger Adapters the Japanese characters should be supported:

Excerpt(Begin):

All adapters support the sender and receiver direction. A broad range of international codepages and character sets are supported. These include Unicode, ASCII, and EBCDIC.

The adapter configuration is carried out in the Integration Directory of SAP NetWeaver Process Integration (SAP NetWeaver PI).

Excerpt(End).

If you select Unicode, you should be on the safe side, as this supports all business relevant characters (including Japanese).
