Abort EHP6 upgrade while at Update Preparation stage

Good afternoon.

While at the Pre-processing, Update Preparation stage, what if we decide to select EXIT to ABORT and cancell the plan to upgrade ECC 6.0 to EHP 6?

What will happen to the shadow tables which were already prepared at this stage? Is there a process to revert back to the original system setup (without the shadow instance and shadow tables)?

Thank you and Regards,

    Hi Joel,

Yes, everything will be resetted provided you did it correctly. You need to click "Back" button until you reached the first initial screen of SUM.

Refer to the upgrade guide for more info.

    • If you are in pre processing phase then proceed as follows to reset the upgrade:

      1. If you are in a dialog phase, the GUI displays the Repeat, Init, and Exit buttons. In this case, choose Exit before resetting the update.

In some cases, you have to choose Cancel (repeatedly) before you can choose Reset Update in the menu bar. If you are in phase DOWNCONF_DTTRANS_BCK, you must first resume production operation before Reset Update is enabled again.

      2. In the GUI menu bar, choose UpdateReset Update. When you reset the update, error messages are displayed stating that SDT requests could not be executed. You can ignore these messages.

NOTE :If you reset the update while the shadow system is running, the shadow system service is not automatically uninstalled. You have to uninstall the shadow system service manually.

Same is described in upgrade guide. Please check upgrade guide.

    hi Junio,

IF you are at the prepare stage which include EXtraction,COnfiguration,Check phases , then you have to reset by using the back button functionality here . In order to activate the back button the

Gui should be at stop stage .

If your upgrade is at Preprocessing roadmap . Then you do have to choose the option

Update->Reset Update which will run some phase to clear the shadow system from abap as well as from database level .

If you are at downtime phase then you do need to restore teh system till preprocessing stage and then use the above steps to clear the system .
