Monitor the Introscope (Diagnostics) Agents in Solution Manager 7.1

Hi all,

Lately we are facing a lot of issue regarding the availability of the SMD Agents, sudenly the some agents appears as offline for the Solution Manager although the processes are running on the application servers.

We have a message open to figure out the root cause but I'd like to implement an alert in Solution Manager 7.1 to detect the issue ASAP.

I have checked the Monitoring Templates but I haven't found any metric that checks the SMD  Agent Availability, there is only an option to monitor the SAP Host Agent.

Do you know any option here?

Regards

Jose

Hi ,

Try to monitor the process of SMD agent using CCMS.

Please find the below link to monitor the os process using dev_proc file.

Hi Rishi,

Thanks for the response but unfortunately the processes are not going down when we have the issue. The processes are running aperantely without issue on the application servers but the SMD agents administrator shows them offline.

What you need are "SolMan self-monitoring" alerts, however what annoys me the most about these particular metrics are a lack of flexibility with thresholds...but for your scenario, might be exactly what you need to track down the issue faster.

Hi,

This looks to me a config issues.

Can you try to rerun the config of the SMD agent and see if it fixes the issues.

Have you seen this issue after offline backup.

Try to maintain the cert and see if this work.

Thanks a lot.

As you can see, I have a few things checked that are important...but everything else triggers a lot of mail...perhaps with SP10 up and coming we will see some changes are at least some threshold values!

Thanks for the update!

Hi Jose,

Please take a look on this URL:

http://<yourserver>:<yourport>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tc~smd~server~agent~admin/SMDAgentAdminA...

To check your agent status, in tab Log Viewer you can check agents log

You can check agent log and paste it here for further investigation.

Kind regards
