Hi All,

My client which went live this Oct 2016 and did not upload legacy asset master data until now wants us to upload data for them now in Feb.

We have a custom program in place for this purpose which is split into 2 parts:

1. We upload asset master data separately.

2. We upload takeover values then.

The only thing is it does not have separate fields for NBV and depreciation posted although it has fields for transactions.

Can please help to answer below questions:

1. Is it ok to not have all the fields for takeover values and just have transaction details?

2. Is OASV still required to be carried out after the legacy data upload or its not required because of the current fiscal year?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Tanu,

Below are the answers to your questions

1. Is it ok to not have all the fields for takeover values and just have transaction details?

You always need the takeover values it depends on the Legacy asset which values you have to migrate in SAP. If you have new year acquisition then there is not need of takeover values but if the assets are before new year then you have to migrate at least two fields i.e. cummulative Acquisition value and accumulated dep. posted

2. Is OASV still required to be carried out after the legacy data upload or its not required because of the current fiscal year?

Yes OASV is always required whether it is new year legacy data or previous year legacy data. If you update the transaction details in asset then Gl accounts also needs to be updated through OASV.

Thanks Pankaj for your quick reponse.

Would like to add what I just found out is in case the legacy data is of current fiscal year we dont need the fields "Acquisition value" and "Accum Depre". We can post through transactions any acquisitions in the current fiscal.

Thanks!

Hi,

Yes, for current year acquisitions you have to add it to transactions and for their depreciation mention it under dep.posted under take over values.

Hi,

what is the intention to use a custom program and not to use the SAP standard tools?

best regards

To perform mass upload as well as to have a program in place with certain other functionalities so that it can be used for our multiple clients in order to maintain harmony in the process for all of them.

Thnx
