Hello,
I've created my NW Cloud account before HANA was available and now I'd like to change my account DB, so I can use it from SAP HANA Studio.
I know I could choose HANA DB if a create a new account, but I prefer to keep my SCN account and not to have multiple accounts.
Is there a way to this.
Thanks!
-Luis
Hi Luis,
currently, this can only be done by operations. Please let us know your account id and we can take care of it.
Also, please be aware that this is only a default setting for the DB type, which means that it's the type chosen for schemas that are being automatically created during the first startup of a new application.
You can still create schemas for HANA and bind them to your applications using the persistence commands. The documentation can be found here.
And here you can find documentation about the remote database access.
Best regards,
Oliver

Hi Oliver,
My account id is P449775, thanks a lot for changing it!
I've tried to activate the remote access but it didn't work. In my first try the schema generated was created in MaxDB. Then, I tried again but binding the app to a HANA schema before starting it, I could connect from HANA Studio but I couldn't create any artifacts in the package.
I want to try how it works if my default DB is HANA.
Best regards.
Hi Ganesh,
I just registered yesterday for SAP Hana Cloud.
I understand from the discussions the default database can be changed to Hana (and is currently not Hana). Is this similar to the AWS instance of Hana though with trial limitations?
Also is this instance sufficient for Hana app development i.e is this Hana version sufficient for technical validation of the app.
thanks
Sesh
Hi Sesh,
there is quite a big difference to getting an AWS instance of HANA. With the AWS instance you get a "private" HANA system which is dedicated for you, and which you also have to manage for yourself. You can look at this as an "Infrastructure as a Service" if you regard the HANA system as part of the infrastructure.
Since the SAP HANA Cloud Platform is a "Platform as a Service", the HANA systems behind it are managed by SAP including services like backup and restore. There is also no guarantee that you are the only user on this system, and there is also no guarantee that different schemas you create with the command tool or in the Cloud Cockpit will end up on the same HANA system.
To see which restrictions apply please have a look at the Restrictions section of the Persistence Service Documentation.
Having said that, we hope that we will have some news regarding this for the upcoming TechEd, so stay tuned.
Best regards,
Oliver
Hi,
Please change the default database of my account (s0008572140trial) from MaxDB to HANA. It's not a problem when content is lost.
Thanks in advance!

See my reply above, you should be able to do this switch on your own in the cockpit, it will be valid for all new apps and will not affect existing DB Schemas of old apps.
You can then clean up the old stuff on your own as well: unbind old schema, delete old app and drop old schema

Hi Xu Xiang in Cockpit Cloud (https://account.hanatrial.ondemand.com), the type of database I'm using is MAXDB. I see it in "Resources" / "Persistence".
There should also be hana? Or just database schema I change it?
regards,
Alessandro
Hi, you can change the default DB per account via cockpit.
It won't mean auto-migration for existing apps but all new apps will go to HANA.
You can drop old MAXDB schemas together with old apps an then also in resources your maxdb usage will disappear, but this is not really necessary
