How to activate/configure portal component logs in WAS 6.40?

Former Member

Hi,

I am having some troubles finding a method to activate/configure the portal component logs on WAS 6.40.

I am talking about logs that were generated through the

com.sapportals.portal.prt.logger.ILogger interface.

On 6.20, the portal had some extra functionality under System administration->monitoring, but this has now been removed ( moved to visual admin?).

Anyone?

Regards

Dagfinn

Hi Dagfinn,

Yes, Using visual admin:

Server0 -> Services -> Log Configurator

then you can display the logs from visual admin (services -> log viewer) or you can install the logviewer-standalone.

Hi,

I'm not too sure if this will help you or not but there is a Log viewer in EP to view logs,

Go to System administration-->support.

From the table click on Portal runtime .There under Test and Configuration tools you have a link to the log viewer.

Here you can get the logs .

There is a log Viewer in Visual adminstrator also..

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Siddhartha.

Hi,

Didn't know about that EP logviewer, but unfortunately it doesn't solve my problem as I can neither see nor configure the portal loggers.

I've allready looked at the logviewer and log configurator service in visual admin, but neither of them seem to pickup the prt loggers.

I would believe that the log configurator would be the correct place to, but I can only find out how to configure WAS "J2EE" logs, not logs from the portal runtime loggers.

It would be very odd if SAP didn't support the portal loggers (since most of the portal components use them).

PS any idea why I am not given the option to assign points?
