clients are missing in scc4 after migration

Former Member

Hello all,

I migrated an SAP R/3 Enterprise with no error, but I noticed that some clients are missing. Could it be because they were protected for copy? I just allowed them in scc4 and started the export again, to see if the export folder is bigger than the first one. If this does not work, both export folders have the same size, the previous exported folder and the new exported folder, should I try to do a remote client copy in scc9?

Pls advise

Thx

Chris

Chris,

I have MSSQL 2008R2. what the command for mssql

Don't have experience with MSSQL, so it is difficult to give you the correct format.

Also try updating all the R3* kernel files and see if that helps.

I just noticed that also some packages are missing after import. This means, even if I did not got any error on export, my export was not OK. Could it be because of the installer? I chose 51043575_13 and chose NW 04Sr1>system copy>...

Pls advice

Thx

Hello all,

Thx for the help. I did a standart migration (export/import), using sapinst (51043575_13). The source is a Win2003+Oracle9.2. The target is Win2008R2+Mssql2005. I faced no error during migration, just I dont have all the clients after import. Looks like the DB is empty. I will try today a remote client copy with scc9, but I have a doubt it will work.

Pls advice

Thx

Hi Chris,

SAP system(Win2003+Oracle9.2) which you have migrated was central or distributed system

If it was distributed system did you ran export at your Database server,it looks like only CI has exported and not database.

Hello Kunal,

from installer I chose system copy>source>abap>oracle>NUC>abap DB export. On the target system, from installer, I had the option to install first CI and then the DB instance.

Thx for any advice

Hi Chris,

Please let me know whether you have chosen the below method for setting up target system.

          Software Life-Cycle Options->System Copy<database>Target System<Distribution option: Central System / Distributed System / High-Availability System>Based on <Stack option> AS ABAP and Java / AS Java / AS ABAP>

Database - Select the Database Instance Installation Method

           Standard System Copy/Migration (load-based):

When you choose Migration it will asks for the Migration export CD image which you have exported during abap DB export which you have to provide here.

Thanks and Regards,

Can you explain in detail the migration process you are following?... Is it a standard DB export as per the Homogeneous System Copy?...

Hello,

Clients which are protected from export will not be copied during upgrade.

You need to to change the client settings of the clients which were missed out last time and do a export/import again.

Hello

If I were you I would first query the T000 table from the DB level before doing something.

select MANDT from SAPSR3.T000;

If that was the case you should be able to find a reference for the skipped clients on the logs of the first export but no necessarily lead to an export error, I think.

In regular circumstances an export should be a plain dump of the DB contents so all clients should be included. Did you try to recreate the clients in SCC4 and see if the data was there?...

Let us know how does the second export goes.

Hello Juan,

Thx for reply. I created manually a missing client in ssc4, but its empty, no users are there and no customising. In the export folder are so many files (TOC, STR ...) that its annoying to look in all of them.

Actually after reading the F1 help on "Protection against SAP Upgrade"

If this flag is set, the client is no longer supplied with data during SAP upgrades

You should get a full export now that the flag has been removed.

Hi Chris,

you normally create the client in SCC4 than you login into it using SAP* / PASS and then you start the remote client copy from inside that client. Maybe I missed your point, but maybe that helps a little.

thx
