Condition Top N incorrect Results calculation

Hello,

Can anyone help!

I have created 2 Column Selections to enable a time comparison based on customers and there customer grouping. I have then created a top n condition to ascertain top 25 customers. To finish off my query i have created a formula to calculate % diff between the two selections. The problem I seem to be having is getting the variance calc. to calculate correctly on the results row. I have marked the selections to calculate results as summation however when I do this for the formulas I do not get the correct results. Am I missing something?

Hi Bhanu,

Thanks for the link. I have already ensured each time interval has a summation in the selection properties which calculates the sum of the top 25 customers but the problem is if I make the formula a summation I get skued results. I have looked through all the other calculated result features with little success there is one for calculating variances but it does not seem to provide the right results. I'm beginning to think there might not be away around this and the formula might have to be calculated using VBA which is difficult because the results row can be a different row in the excel book each time.

Hi Bhanu,

The results from the query look like this

SalesOffice / GrpCde / Date interval. / Date int. / Var

On Trade Joe Bloggs Jan 05 vs Aug 05 % diff

The condition is based on Top 25 grpcode. Each % diff works for the top 25 grpcdes but not the results row in which the calculation is incorrect if Im honest I not sure what its attempting to calculate. Im wondering if I have to tick something in the formula properties although I have spent hours playing with this.

Hi Neil,

When using a condition, the result row still contains the overall result of the report, i.e. by default, the total is calculated without taking the conditions into account.

Could this be what is causing incorrect results inyour case. Please refer to the following for more info:
