Dear Budding Consultants,

I am a certified ABAP consultant with a little over 2 years of development under my belt. I am familiar with MM, FI and HCM modules. I want opinions on proceeding to become a professional solution architect. SAP does provide a certification in the same : http://training.sap.com/v2/certification/p_soa_ea_70-sap-certified-professional-enterprise-architect... but i do understand its a bit too early to take this course. Can anyone give any pointers with alternative course suggestions etc. I'd really appreciate it.

I am not sure you are in which country, as India is having different rules for appearing different certification.

Please ensure you have passed their evaluation process for professional exams.

Enterprise Architect / Solution Architect role requires not only understanding the different modules, but you have indepth knowledge on various technologies, methods and processes. You should also be familiar with various interfaces, solutions and their impacts. I would expect a Solution Architect to be with at least 10 years of solid project experience.

All the best.

Kind Regards,

Ravi

Thanks a lot for the reply Ravi,

another thing I would like to ask ,, by various technologies does it mean across different modules or just related to ABAP.?

Being a solution architect, you should have indepth knowledge not only in ABAP, however, across various modules. You should be center of contact for any technical solution. Unless you have complete knowledge, it is not possible to do justice to this job.
