Field “Requirements Type” is greyed out in the Sales Order

I want to change the Requirements Type of my Sales Order Item from KSVS to KSV so that the sales order will ATP against 1 PC in inventory but the field is greyed out.

What do I need to do to make this field open for change?

Our MRP Strategy Group is Z4 which is Strategy 52 (Plng w/o final assem. w/o make-to.order) as the Main Strategy and Strategy 40 (Planning with final assembly) as the Secondary Strategy.

We wait for a Sales Order before finishing off the Material (this is classic use of Strategy 52) so the Sales Order Availability check is against the PIRs.  But sometimes (rarely) we find ourselves with inventory before the sales order is received (e.g. Returns) so we would like to change the Sales Order item from Requirement type KSVS to KSV so that the Sales Order ATP will be done against this 1 PC in inventory.  But the field is greyed out.  Please see screen shot below.

I looked at these previous SCN discussions but they have not worked for me:

Is anyone able to help me?  Thank you!

Hi Ann,

It is SAP standard that on save of the sales order that the req type would be greyed out. However, while creation it will be in editable mode.

Please try to use t-codes for Backorder processing - CO06 or V_V2 to satisfy your requirement.

Please let me know for further clarification,

Regards

Thank you very, very much, Raj.  You're right - the field IS available for edit during Sales Order Creation.  This solves my problem.  Thank you again.
