Questions about dual-stack split tool

Dear Experts,

I would like to upgrade NW7.0 to NW7.31 however due to NW7.0 was installed as ABAP+JAVA dual stack, I have to split them firstly before upgrading.

I saw that SAP provide a tool called Dual-Stack split tool, I have few questions:

1. Do i have to use this tool to split the stacks? can I use SWPM system copy function, to export ABAP and export JAVA and then install two systems one by one with the exports? what are the difference between Dual stack split tool and SWPM system copy function?

2. If I use Dual stack split tool, the split process was executed on the original server or still I have to export Java stack and then import on another server? that is to say, do I need additional server to hold the split action?

3. For upgrade, I have to use Solution manager MoPZ to calculate the upgrade queue, my question is, the calculation is based on the original dual stack system, or based on the splitted two systems? that is ti say, MoPZ before split or MoPZ after split?

Thank you so much for your advices.
