Managed System Setup

Hi,

I have installed a new solution manager 7.1, upgraded to SP5 and am running the managed system setup to an ERP ECC 6 system on 7.02.

This will become the production solution manager and I need to move the managed systems from the DEV server to the PRD solution manager. The SLD will remain on the DEV solman. Is there a process to follow to remove the managed systems from DEV solman and add them to the PRD solman? Or should I install another diagnostic instance on the managed system for the PRD solman to manage? If so, do I require another host agent?

I've struggled to find any documentation on changing managed systems to a different solman.

Thanks

Grant

You can change the DAA agent pointing from DEV solman to Prd solman using the below script and re-run the managed system setup in your Prd  solman.

    go to directory C: \usr\sap\DAA\SMDA<nn>\script

    smdsetup.bat managingconf hostname:"sapms://<prd solman FQDN>" port:"81<SCS>"  user:"SMD_ADMIN" pwd:"<pwd for admin user>"

    • Yes, Deleting the RFC connections to DEV Solman and cleaning up extractors should do the job of clean up activities of all the services .( My way of doing coz I find it easy 😊)

Do let me know if there is any best practice in doing the clean up job in solman.

Two LMDBs is not an easy task to handle, and SP05 while releasing a numerous amount of features also released a large amount of issues (I suggest SP08, as SP10 is going to be released towards the end of this year).

The easiest solution for you, would be to install a second SMD agent (use a different SID and instance #) and the host agent will remain the same.  Save yourself some time!! 😉

Also what is the desire to keep the SLD central on the Dev system?

    Hi Grant

Please do  check the below master guide(5.1.1Landscape Recommendation  & Landscape Data Management - System Landscape Directory, Landscape Management Database, and System Landscape) ...it will give more detailed information for 2 tier or 3 tier landscape of solution manager, lmdb concept with Central SLD recommendation from SAP

    https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000288992011E.PDF

Practically all the systems should be connected to SAP Solution Manager Production environment

so that all the functionalities like incident charm project management test management can be used centrally.

    Hope this helps to decide

    Regards

Thankfully we haven't got as far as data volume management or too in depth with the entire implementation. I'm not to worried about the DEV box, I'm more concerns if there any impact on the PRD solman due to pre-existing config in DEV.

But if deleting the RFC's, and cleaning up the extractors, and pointing the DAA instance to PRD then that pretty much answers my question.

Thank you all for your sharing of knowledge
