Dear all,
We use Message transmission medium "External send" to send our purchase orders by mail or fax to vendor. Is there a possibility to report error statuses if the sending is not successful?
Example: There is no email-address on the vendor master data. The message can't be send to the vendor. Now, the creator of the message should receive a mail to inform him of the failure.
How can we do that?
Thanks and best regards,
Thomas
if there is no email address in vendor master, then you will not get any message for a email in the PO.
According to the message strategy SAP may change from email to fax, and if the fax number is missing it may go to a printer.

Dear All,
Thank you very much for your inputs.
What we are looking for is to check if the output message has been successful processed or if no message coud be found.
Do you know if there is a Exit or Badi we could use. The Exit/Badi should be triggered after output message determination.
We allready tried to do this with badi ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST but there is no method for our requirement.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Thomas

I am not sure how you want do that and when, I am not even sure what status you want check even after your more clarifying reply.
I hope there is not too much mixed in here.
First we have the message determination in the PO.
I usually get a warning message when checking or saving in case no condition record for a message was found.
Next step is processing the PO messages. Here you have the wide area from printing immediately to processing with extra programs
So I think you will not be able to know the processing status (green/yellow/red) via an exit while you still process the PO
Last but not least the processing status in the PO does not tell anything about the processing status of SAPConnect.
Imagine you send a letter to someone. writing the letter and dropping it into the mail box at the postal office this is represented by the traffic lights in the PO messages.
the transportation of the letter and handing it over to the recipient his represented by SAPConnect, from where you can as well get the status of a delivery failure.
Jürgen,
Sorry if the problem description or my requirement are not clear.
What I am looking for is a program reporting status (green/yellow/red) on the processing step. I would like inform the creator of the PO (by mail) if there is something wrong on processing his output message.
As I understand your message, this will probably not be possible.
Best regards,
Thomas
Hi,
You can get the sending log from SOST.
However, if you want to log the errors, then you will need to modify your print program to log it to system log in SLG1.
System will issue the daily log next morning.

Hi Thomas,
There is no standard functionality to achieve your requirement. as explained above, the message strategy switches the transmission medium in case of missing entries.
Still if it is required, then during the creation of purchase order, a message can be developed with the help of abap development which will alert the buyer that email id is not maintained in the vendor master for the vendor used.
