Dev Vs Q for eCATT development

Simple question as I am about exploring more on eCATT. Should eCATT scripts be developed first in a dev box and then transported to Q, or can they directly be developed in the Quality box?

When I try to create a new script in my Quality box, I get an message about SAP system status being 'not modifiable'. Is this a simple issue of getting the appropriate security access or an indication that Quality is not the appropriate place to develop these scripts in the first place?

Thanks!

Hello Archana,

There is no restriction on which system the eCATT scripts should be created, best practices is to create in one central system like the solution manager system and then you RFC's to execute this script on different target system where the application resides.

If there is no Solution manager system preferably eCATT scripts are created Quality System as the application are more stable there and you have stable master and transaction data than dev system where the application changes frequently due to customization , configuration and lot of modifications in the system which results in your eCATT script failure.

Hope it helps, else let me know.

Thanks,

Aj
