What is Career Development, Competency mgmt, Enterprise learning means

Dear All,

I want to know what exactly they deal with in SAP:

Career Deveopment: Is it LSO??

Competency Mgmt: Maintenance of qualification for the employee??

Enterprise learning: LSO??

PMS: Appraisal system??

Please answer.

Dear Sonu,

SAP has 3 levels for learning solution. If I give you a general view I would say:

1- Personnel Training and Event management (PTE)

2- Learning solution (LSO): It is PTE + web-based courses(content)

3- Enterprise learning solution: It is LSO + Virtual classes (SAP added ADOBE integration)

Career development is part of personnel development(PD) to develop the paths employees can take in the company to move from a job or a position to another (as a promotion in organizational level)

Competency management means managing Qualifications. There is qualification catalog in system you should make it based on your situation. I mean which requirements you have for your jobs / positions and which competencies your employees have.

Requirements and competencies are similar concepts but from job / position perspective we call it requirements and from employees perspective we call it competencies.

By the way appraisal system, which recently SAP calls it Objective Settings and Appraisal (OSA) is a general module which you can use to develop different forms with different workflows to evaluate, for example, performance of a training course, personnel appraisal and so on.

Hi,

01.Career Deveopment: Is it LSO??

Yes it is training and even management now with the enhancement which is called LSO )learning solution)

Actualy qualication will be mapped with the position.Thats call requiremnt for that position.

employee will have the qualification so when you match both (profile matchup) you can identify the gaps then you have to have the development plane to develop the idetified gaps thats sending employee for the training which is available in you traning catalog.

02.Competency Mgmt: Maintenance of qualification for the employee??

Of course you can use qualification catalog to define you compitancy. its nothing but qualification. most of the companies doing in such.

03.Enterprise learning: LSO??

Yes. now all are in process of migrating to LSO from Training and event mamangement. TEM

04.PMS: Appraisal system?

Yes. PMS mean Performance management system , where you can do entire cycle of your Apprisal with the status ideitification.

Here we can do the MBO(management by objectives.) where appraiser have set the objectives for his/her team and also employee acn set their objectives.
