What is the purpose of "replacement conneciton" functionality while defining Data security Profile?

Hi,

This is with regards to Setting Data Security profiles via Information Design Tool.

Has anyone used it?  Could anyone please guide stating what is the purpose of "Replacement Connections" functionality? we have been trying to test it out but seem to be failing.

Is there any document that we could refer.

You could also have two connections to the same database, differentiated by the user defined in the connection. One could be a generic user name and the other uses Windows AD connectivity - data can then be restricted but all users are running the same report, reducing report and universe maintenance.

It depends how you use it.

1. You can have two versions of database so that you can use one connection for one set of users and another connection to another set of users.

e.g. User A is a high priority user and may not afford  slow reports due to database load, so you can have copies source DW, one being used only for particular set of users.

Using, replacement conncection you can define a new connection to a another DW when particular user is logged in.
