Adding a datafile maxdb Linux / db_addvolume

Hello Folks,

I need some help in extending the current MaxDb database.

I have installed the 90 days Eval vesrion of WAS 640 on Linux/MaxDb. It by default instls with one datafile of nearly 6GB.

I have installed the SAPDBMGUI on Windows to manage the MaxDB on linux.

When I try to add the datafile from DBMGUI, its not allowing me to add.. Its throwing an error link file cannot be created.

I would highly appreciate your help if some one can give me some clue on this.

Thanks

Guru

Hi,

I've moved your topic to a, in my eyes, more suited subforum.

Can you please exactly specify:

1. what kind of volume you're adding (raw or file)

2. the exact error message you received

Please check if:

1. if there's enough space available there

2. if the relevant permissions are set correctly

Kind regards,

Roland

Hi Roland, Thanks for that.

I'm trying to add a Link volume.

From DBMGUI when I try add the data file by default it tries to create the link type. My question is how will it create a link file with out having the actual datafile like DISK0002..

Space is there and I logged into DBMGUI using control, control.

Thanks for your help

Hi Guru,

can you please specify:

1. the exact error output

2. the exact permissions of the folder where you'd like to create the link file AND where the actual volumes will reside.

3. your used database version

Kind regards,

Roland
