RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION ( Connect to message server failed )

605 Views

Hi there,

One of our users has a problem connecting to a SAP system. They are receiving the following error:

========================================================

Connect to message server failed

Connect_PM MSHOST=/H/saprouter.x-x.com/H/192.168.100.1, R3NAME=DBP, GROUP=puplic

LOCATION CPIC (TCP/IP) on local host

ERROR internal error (this retcode should be handled by caller of LG-layer) , ?

========================================================

I'm wondering if this is because of a lack of information in the connection string (although this system connects OK via the logon pad). The group name is correct even though it is spelt as puplic rather then public.

Is there a default port when connecting to SAP routers and message servers? I have checked the services file for any port definitions for the R3NAME but haven't found any. I'm wondering how the connector knows which port to connect on.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,

Charles
