Fiori for mobile devices can be installed as an App?

Hi,

I have a few questions about SAP Fiori, I hope you can help me:

1. It's a collection of apps accessed through the browser? Or you really install an App in your mobile device?

2. If it's the second option, the UI is stored in the app or the app is just presenting the HTML5 code stored in SAP Gateway? Well the purpose of this question is just to know where is the code maintained/adapted.

3. Is it possible to run Fiori through SMP? How?

    Hi Marçal,

Fiori are a collection of browser based app's that run using SAPUI5 technology on top of Netweaver Gateway.

You do not install an application and in fact, one of the benefits of Fiori is that they can be run in any compatible browser on any device - so users can access the same application UI on their desktop, laptop, tablet & smartphones.

I don't believe you can run Fiori through SMP and I'm really not sure you would want to - SAP have positioned the Fiori app's as simple, lightweight solutions so they don't need the extended features/functionality that SMP can offer (in my opinion.)

See https://experience.sap.com/fiori for some more info. if you haven't already.

    Thanks,

    Gareth.

    • AFAIK SAP is working on a Fiori version that runs in SAP Portal / cloud / on device and SMP HWC. Not sure why SAP didn't chose to have Fiori run in these environments right from the start, as this is IMO a negative point regarding their mobile strategy communication: no cloud, no SMP, "only" on premise.
