Strange Mobilink Sync Error

Recently we are migrating our Mobilink server from one physical server to another.

However, when we test the mobilink synching, the error of 'no download cursor' occurred.

This error does not occur when we connect to our old mobilink server.

We had compared the following between the two servers and found to be the same :

1. MobiLink Server Version

2. Database

3. Mobilink startup parameters

4. OS (windows 2008 64 Bit)

5. ODBC Driver (SQL Native 10)

Any advice is appreciated.

    Hi Ryan,

The combination of the client you're using and the MobiLink server must be creating this situation due to some mismatch of factors:

    1. The consolidated database is not the same, and the stored versions of the synchronization scripts are different. You will need to copy the MobiLink system tables (ml_*) to the new consolidated database, or connect your new MobiLink server to the old consolidated database.
    2. The client is requesting a script version that is not the same as the old script version being requested, thus you're seeing different versions of the script definitions in the consolidated database.Check the script version being requested by the client.
    3. The MobiLink server version is not the same - your older MobiLink server is a version 11.0.x server which does not require the download scripts for all tables. As of MobiLink server 12.0.x and newer, all download scripts must be defined or commented out with '--{ml_ignore}'. You can use the ml_add_missing_dnld_scripts system procedure to add these scripts automatically for any tables that do not have defined scripts.

    • Hi Ryan,

I can appreciate that you can't see any discrepancy here currently - but there must be one in order for you to see this error.

Can you post a full MobiLink command-line and MobiLink console log (i.e. "mlsrv16 -vs -o mlsrv16-console.txt") from a "good" synchronization on one server, and a "bad" synchronization on the other? Hopefully a log file will help us determine where the difference is, and which scripts the MobiLink server is reading that are the difference.

another strange this is my publication only involve table A and B. but the mobilink is complaining about the missing download script for table C.

The tables referenced in the upload are described by the remote database, from the publication definition. Are you positive you're looking at the same publication in both scenarios?
