License consumption Tracking useing CMC

We Currently have BO XI 3.1 sp5 installed in our environment with 25 concurrent licenses. Is there a way to track license consumption by hour and by day using CMC or a log file. I hoping to understand when most of the licenses are used and for how long are they consumed,

    Hi Ramon,

U can use the Audit universe for this if it has been setup at ur end. or you can simply use the query builder to fire some basic SQLs and get the output.

Also there is an option in the CMC where you can track see who the actual users looged in are

OR i use the below macro to get documents and other info . . . see if it helps you.

I have been using this for yrs now . . . now its even there for BO 4.0 . . . so just have a look, guess it might help.

Pre requisite :- u shld have excel 2003 and above and should enable the macros, u should have BO 3.1 installed in the client machine where u will be running this file.

    • The general guideline is to use concurrent user licenses for users who use the system throughout the day but not continuously. Users who continuously use the system has to take named user licensing.

Audit reports Will be handy in your requirement. you need to utilize the pre defined audit reports to run time to time and monitor the license usage. Query builder query Will give you only the licence allocation not the licence usage pattern over a period of time.

    Hi Ramon,

If you are in XI 3.x, your QueryBuilder URL would be as following,

    http://[server]:[port]/AdminTools/

Please Login and execute the below queries in QueryBuilder to get the required results:

    Query for Named User:

    SELECT SI_ID, SI_NAME FROM CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS WHERE SI_NAMEDUSER=1 and SI_KIND='user'

    Query for Concurrent User:

    SELECT SI_ID, SI_NAME FROM CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS WHERE SI_NAMEDUSER=0 and SI_KIND='user'

To make above process automatic there is no direct option. But there are some third-party based Java utilities which can run on fixed frequency basis and log information that you need. Please let me know if you are interested.
