How to apply condition record to a actual material with a pricing reference material?

Dear Friends,

Need an information. I believe, if there is a pricing reference material listed in material master data, then the condition record should necessarily be referring to pricing reference material.

I have come across a scenario, even though the sales order line item "material" has a pricing reference material for it against which usually condition record would be maintained, I need to maintain the record for the actual material despite of the presence of pricing reference material.

Now, as there is a reason why pricing reference material given in master data, I would like to know is it possible to maintain the condition record for the line item material without removing reference material from master data.

If possible, how to achieve this possibility.

Thanks,

Vishwanath

Hi Vishwanth,

yes this is possible, by default KOMP - PMATN(Pricing material reference) system takes this doc.field while you assign the tables to the access sequence, however you can still change this field catalog at the access sequence level, say for example if your table A004 was assigned to PR00 pricing sequence, get onto the table 4, goto field view, select the line, KOMP- PMATN & goto field catalog & search for MATNR field, which has description as material number, on selecting this the default doc. field changes to MATNR from PMATN.

but doing this at the access sequence level causes non-usage of the existing condition records & hence use this for new condition table / access sequence mapping,  also have this assignment normally made at a Z- access sequence & not to a standard one.

The material master on having the pricing reference material normally takes the priority in pricing a material because of PMATN mapping, hence try to have blank at the material master level when you dont want any access specific to pricing reference material or populate the same material code to pricing reference material such that the actual material & the pricing reference material are the same.

Thanks. This works perfect.

Vishwanath,

In the material master record, if you field Pricing Ref. Material = BLANK, then the system picks up the material number (as Pricing Ref. Material) during the creation of sales order.

If your requirement is to pick up the material number during creation of sales order, then this would be a very easy way, without any IMG related activities.

Dear TW,

Agree, but when I need the changes only in one particular condition record (regardless of how many materials I am using in SO and their relevance to pricing reference material)  then changes as suggested by llango at access sequence level is feasible rather than removing reference material from master data as this relevance might be useful in some other condition record.

One more thing is that, assume I have maintained pricing ref material in condition record, then all the materials with this reference material will be automatically triggered with condition record data in SO even though for some line item I do not want the value.

Hi,

If you are using any "Reference material" for the "actual material" in material master then DON'T maintain condition record for the actual material in VK11.

while creation of sales order actual material will pull the condition record for the existed reference material with the help of Material master Reference concept.

if condition record exist for the "Actual material" it will NOT refer the condition value of reference material in sales order.

(Note:@ref material master data must exit)

Test it from your end and up date your feedback.

Krishna.

Dear Krishna,

Please review my post again.

My question is, can we still maintain the condition record for the actual material inspite of the presence of pricing reference material in it's master data? I mean, I should be able to pull the value maintained in condition record against the actual material. As per the standard, value doesn't flow unless the record is maintained against the reference material.

Please get back.
