SMD Agent shutdown

Hi dear Forum,

    I have an ERP of 20.000 users which generates a big load of metric data on Diagnostic Agent.

The agent shutdown an the error says: Metric Limit exceeded: 1000 I found KBA 1631978  - SAP Solution Manager Diagnostics Agent error : "Metric Limit exceeded: 1000 " but I can't download modificated file WilyHostAgentTemplate.xml whith following error:

Failed to store custom resource: WilyHostAgentTemplate.xml (detail: The resource 'tc~smd~agent~application~wilyhost|WilyHostAgentTemplate.xml' does not conform to the rules specified by the 'WilyHost.xsd' schema.)

I also found this issue in guide: Troubleshooting Guide Wily Introscope 7.8 Q: SAPOSCOL data is not displayed. SelfMonitoring / agent log files indicate "metric limit exceeded" A: There is a built-in limit of 1000 metrics for each host agent action. If your monitored host has too many file systems / disks, this may reach the limit of 1000. Options to resolve this: - Disable Filesystem and/or disk polling on HostAgent level. For this purpose, modify WilyHostAgentTemplate.xml and remove Disks or Filesystems in the following example: <action prefix="SAP OsCol" name="SAPOsCol" class="com.sap.smd.wily.hostagent.action.SapOsColAction"  destination="Process_Saposcol" period="60000">    <property name="sections" value="CPU,Memory,Disks,Filesystems,LAN,MonitoredProcesses"/>   </action> - Implement SAP Note 498112 to exclude some file systems from saposcol monitoring. - If you want to see all data, raise the metric limit for saposcol in the HostAgent by modifying WilyHostAgentTemplate.xml. Thanks Billy Warring and Divyanshu Srivastava I just receive answer from SAP Global Support. Information changed with SPS08 the way is

Diagnostic Agent Administration ==> Application Configuration ==> Agent Application ==> com.sap.smd.agent.application.willyhost ==> Scope : <your server> (NOT GLOBAL) ==> metric.limit.per.action I changed from 1000 to 4000 and it worked

Hi Alamo,

This works for everyone I believe. All you have to do is to download the XML, edit it and upload it.

However, You can also do at file system level. Find the correct application XML, edit it and upload it. Remember to to a backup, stop hostagent and clear all shared memory. Try to start agent again.

You can't download the XML or you can't upload the modified XML file into SMD Admin?
