Lock All Users certain groups?

Using EP6, is it possible to lock/unlock all users except those in the super adminstrator group (or any other specified group)?

We are using our company's LDAP database as our user base, and so as soon as we imported it, everyone has access to login to the portal (although most have no roles), which is still in development at this stage. We would like to be able to lock all users initially, and then allow them access later on. This would also be handy if we wanted to prevent anyone from accessing the portal for a short period of time for maintenance etc. later on.

Has anyone done this? What would be the best way of approaching this? Via a report?

thanks in advance for any assistance

Hi Richard,

It is possible to lock/unlock users in the Portal.

Just login with a User Id with User Administration rights, search for the users that you wish to lock/unlock. The search can be based on any combination of the user parameters like User ID, Department, Created Date, etc.

Upon showing the search results you can choose to lock or unlock the users.

The best way of doing it is to give a common name for a parameter, say Position or Department. Search for all the users under this parameter, select all these users and then lock them.

Hope that was helpful.

Hi Priya, thanks for getting back to me.

This is not exactly what I was looking for, as it will be very slow to go through and lock users based on any of the parameters that you can search on.

Do you know if you can create custom properties for a user? If so, it may be possible to create a custom property for users, and have it set to either user or administrator, and then lock all of the accounts with the property set to "user" when I need to.

I am using a read only AD database as my user base, so any additional properties would need to be created in the J2EE database.

Is this possible? If so, how do I go about doing this?

Thanks again for your assistance.

Regards

Rich
