Windows server 2008 and 2003 compatibility issues.

Hi experts,

We are in the process of upgrading our OS server to windows server 2008 R2 from Windows server 2003. My main concern is that our app servers are using windows server 2003 as well and will not be upgraded to Windows server 2008, Will there be any compatibility issues with this?
