Systems belong to same transport domain but located in diff Network domain

Hi Everyone,

With respect to the subject above, we planning for migration of SAP systems to new data center. As systems are distributed across multiple network domains, we are planning to bring all the sap systems into a Single network domain in New data center.

In the process, we are moving some of the systems (like QA and Dev) initially to new data center. And after a testing, we will be moving to Production systems later to the new Network domain.

Since Dev and QA belong to Domain A(Network Domain) and Prod belong to Domain B(Network Domain).  But Dev, QA and Prod belong to same transport domain.

Since we have Weekly schedule for Production transports. We expect the intermediate steps in migration should not affect the Weekly transport move.

So please suggest whether prerequistes need to be done before the migration and any precautionary measures as well.

Thanks and Regards
Sudha

Hi,

First question that i would like to ask you

Is there any firewall between the two domain?

If yes and you are manually willing to move the files (cofile and data files) across domain . But if are not willing to move the files you will have to get firewall rule burnt do that you have nsf file systems.

The important network setup the Firewalls between the two networks must allow this traffic.

28781 - Central Transport Directory NT/Unix

492142 - SAPRouterstrings for TMS Domain Links

Procedure 9.1. Configure a firewall to allow NFS

  1. Allow TCP and UDP port 2049 for NFS.
  2. Allow TCP and UDP port 111 (rpcbind/sunrpc).
  3. Allow the TCP and UDP port specified with MOUNTD_PORT="port"
  4. Allow the TCP and UDP port specified with STATD_PORT="port"
  5. Allow the TCP port specified with LOCKD_TCPPORT="port"
  6. Allow the UDP port specified with LOCKD_UDPPORT="port"

Thanks

All you need to make sure is that that the transport directory is accessible.

Hi Sudhakaran,

Since your DEV+QA of Network A should have connection with PRD of Network B anyway (RFC-connection, etc), there is a better way of doing the transports, and the data+cofiles will be automatically transferred to PRD.

This is using the "domain-links".

So basically you will create 2 transport domains, one for DEV+QAS and one for PRD.

Please check this doc and click the domain-links to see how to setup one: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/EN/c4/6045377b52253de10000009b38f889/content.htm

I hope this will help you.

Regards,

Andre
