Vendor material number not transferred from info record to contract

Hello,

A contract has been created in ME31K for a specific vendor & material.

When we modify the content of the field «Vendor Mat. No» in the info record (ME12) in the General data tab, the content is not updated in the existing contract line item (ME33K). The new vendor material number will only show up if we create a new line item in the contract (the existing line item will still remain unchanged).

We would like the new vendor material number to appear in the existing line items of the contract. Is it possible ? If not, why was is designed this way?

Thanks for your help.

Julien

A change in master data will never change old business data, it is standard design across all modules, that a change in master data will only affect data that gets created after the change.

where shall this stop? at the oldest contract in your system? or only contracts that are still in use?

    • hi,

sap dont give permission to update in related documents. for me , it is not updated why table are not changable everywhere. If it is possible , sap spend more effort for updating.

For example : user can change Material master material group , but there are a lot of created pr and po , they are not updated , it is applicaple for future.

      regards.

    Hi,

Contract is an outline purchasing document which already created but your info record is a master data which is updated after your Contract Created!

Any master data updation will not update any historical transactions which are available in your system.

Master data and configuration data become transaction data.
