Solved: Software update manager(SUM) getting error while u...

Hi All,

i am getting an error while using SUM(software update manager) Tool in Solman 7.1 in post processing step.

Error :

Unable to execute the SDT request ABAP operation post-execute on hostname SAPSMD instance 00 Post-Uptime execution of the ABAP upgrade request ABAP has failed Error from unit observer Cannot execute unit post-execute, current unit is extract.

Please help me ..

we restore the usr folder and started it again now it's working ..

What are you mean restore the usr folder and started it again? You restore /usr/sap/<SID> catalog and it's working?

Hi Ron,

Only perform the following steps if you were in one of the Preparation Roadmap steps (1-4) when you tried to reset the previous upgrade:

Stop the upgrade.
Change to the upgrade directory:
UNIX: <upgrade directory>/abap/bin
WINDOWS: <upgrade directory>\abap\bin
Execute the following command:
UNIX: ./SAPup reset prepare
WINDOWS: .\SAPup.exe reset prepare
Rename the current upgrade directory
NOTE: Once you have confirmed that the reset was done properly, you can then delete the directory.
Start a new upgrade from scratch.

Now the upgrade should no longer stop in phase PREP_INIT/VALCHK_INI.

If this procedure is not successful then please check note 2053877. Since SUM SP10 report RSUPGRES can be executed to reset an upgrade.

Hello Raj,

You are in postprocessing phase and it looks it got completed....no now when you try to start it again it throws this error. Please check the SAPup.log.....What phase does it show.....if you do not find the phases in the postprocessing in the SAPup.log......check if you could find the ABAP****.SAR file in system. Uncompress it and check the SAPup.log there....
