How to change BW 7.3 Process Chain Background Server setting

Hi Gurus,

I'm trying to change the Background Server settings for our Process Chains in BW 7.3. However, if i follow the menu options:

Process Chain => Attributes => Background Server

the screen flickers and does nothing.

Any ideas how to get around that issue?  Also, is there a global setting to ensure all process chains following 1 background server setting?

Hi

In addition to the points above, you can also choose the background server after scheduling the process chain.

Once the process chain is scheduled with random server based on the availability, you can change it to the background server which you want the process chain to run.

Right click on start variant --> Display all Jobs

You will get a list as below.

Select the Released job. Then go to the menu bar and click Job. In the drop down menu, click change. (Ctrl + F11). You will get the below screen.

Click the input help for Exec. Target, you will get the servers available in your system. Choose one and save the changes.

Even if you don't have authorization to schedule the process chain, you could use this way to edit the timing/server details.

Hope this helps

Hi,

first check in Transaction RSBATCH, if there are settings maintained avoiding the popup.

If nothing is maintained there, check table RSADMIN by using Program SAP_RSADMIN_MAINTAIN and set Parameter RSPC_ALLOW_SERVER_POPUP to X.

(Also refer to OSS-Note 1580265, first you have to insert some Corrections, if applicable to your PatchLevel)

Hope that helps.

Hi,

You can choose the required background server when scheduling the process chains.By default you'll get the below shown snapshot pop up when you click on schedule when there are mulitiple servers available to choose.

If this screen does not show up, it means there is only one server.

Thanks,

Hi Gregg,

Maybe check your bakground processing is fine.

Please do a consistency check of the BTC Processing System as follows:

1. Run Transaction SM65

2. Select Goto ... Additional tests

3. select these options: Perform TemSe check

Consistency check DB tables

List

Check profile parameters

Check host names

Determine no. of jobs in queue

All job servers

and then click execute.

4. Once you get the results check to see if you have any inconsistencies in any of your tables.

5. If there are any inconsistencies reported then run the "Background

Procesing Analyses" (SM65 .. Goto ... Additional Tests) again.

This time check the "Consistency check DB tables" and the

"Remove Inconsistencies" options.

6. Run this a couple of times until all inconsistencies are removed from the tables.

Make sure you run this SM65 check when the system is quiet and no other

batch jobs are running as this would put a lock on the TBTCO table till

it finishes. This table may be needed by any other batch job that is

running or scheduled to run at the time SM65 checks are running.

Kind Regards,

Johan

Dear friend,

You should do in RSPC t-code, if there is only one server then it automatically set as initial.

Please note the msg in status bar.

How many Servers do you have? Generally, when you click on Background server, it shows you to select the available servers.

Does it shows any message in the status bar below?
