Hi,

I try to apply SP for SAP_BW components in my system

downloaded .SAR files from SMP

KW70212.SAR, KD70249.SAR, K-70212INPIBASIS.SAR, KA70212.SAR, KB70212.SAR

Now the problem is when i try to do SACAR .. it should extract to files .PAT & .ATR

in my case it extract .PAT & SIGNATURE.SMF file.

Because of this OCS Package Directory is showing empty(No OCS Packages found for this selection)

Can some please suggest me, what was wrong in above support files!

Thanks,

Sreeni.

Hello

Tx SPAM - All Support Packages - Display

Do you see those packages there ?

Also make sure you are using the packages which is compatible to the BASIS release.

Hi,

What is the current patch level of your system.

Hope you have ran the SAPCAR extracted the path /usr/sap/trans so that all the PAT files go in EPS/in.

Please check the trans directory parameter set in your system correctly.

DIR_TRANS to /usr/sap/trans and DIR_EPS_ROOT to /usr/sap/trans/EPS

A Simple Test try do the uncar using the desktop.

GO in SPAM and try upload from desktop.

Hope maintenance certificate is valid in your system.

Ideally you should use MOPZ so that you get all the dependences.

Hi,

I have downloaded manually, and there is no error,

Login to 000 client ...and run SPAM.

Now click Support Package--> Load Packages -->From Application Server

Go back to SPAM screen and Now select New Support Packages and click display

it showing No OCS Packages found for this selection is the main problem

Thanks,

Sreeni.

Hello Sreeni,

You got the root cause.

How can you apply a 702 Support Package on a 700 system??

SPAM is for the Support Package Update and not release update. What you are trying to do here is release upgrade. You have to upgrade your system.

Gaurav

Hi Sreeni,
Below points may help you resolve the issue:
1) Cross check the file size downloaded from SMP,If you observe any discrepencies. Try download    these files by SAP download manager.
2) In T-CODE SPAM check "Extras --> Settings --> (Tab) Load Packages : Directory on Application server" must be "/usr/sap/trans/EPS/in"
3) If possible download/replace the latest SAPCAR executable of same kernel version.
4) Place the downloaded *.SAR files in /usr/sap/trans dirctory.
5) Login by <sid>adm user, change to directory /usr/sap/trans and execute
SAPCAR -xvf *.SAR

Hope this helps.

warm regards,
Saravanan.

Hello Sreeni,

Its a bit technical. But will try to explain. Basically the core coding of the SPAM/SAINt update package is same means they are downward compatible. So you were able to apply it and you can use your system without any issue. However this is not the case with the Support Packages.

If you check the system status you can see the following columns :

Software Component      Release        Level

With SPAM you can increase the level. Means you can update the SAP_BW from 15 to higher level. But you cannot upgrade the release from 700 to 702.

What you are trying to achieve here is to perform a upgrade. You need to check the upgrade guides for this.

http://service.com/instguides/

Here you can find the upgrade guides for all the products. Check the Upgrade Guide for your Product Version.

Hope It helps.

Hello Sreeni,

You can only apply SP using SPAM for your release. So You have to perform the upgrade here. You need to use the SUM tool for it and will need to generate the stack.xml file for this.

If your queries has been answered. you can close this thread.

Hi Sreeni,

Did you downloaded the packages manually.

Try to download the packages through MOPZ.

Can you please paste the screenshot of the error.
