SolMan 7.1 Installation Error in phase: Start Java Engine

Former Member

Hi,

May we have your assistance on the error we are encountering when we

install Solution Manager 7.1 using SWPM.

We are stuck in the installation Phase: Start Java Engine. Attached is

the screenshot. We installed Java j2sdk-1_4_2_42-windows-amd64 and put a JAVA_HOME environment variable with path  -

F:\usr\sap\<SID>\DVEBMGS00\exe\sapjvm_4

We also installed Java first. Before the installation of SAP. Should we do that first or it has no effect if SAP SWPM should install the JAVA?

Hoping for your helpful response.

Thank you!

Hello Almira,

In our case it was SWPM which extracted & installed the SAPJVM.

please consider running the whole installation process once again & let SWPM handle everything.

Hello Joyce,

1) Usually Java Installs in C:/ Directory But in above screenshot JAVA_HOME Variable path mentioned to EXE folder.

2) After Successful Installation of Java. Goto CMD--> JAVAC  check if Java Installed or not.

3) Try to start Java Manually in SAPMMC.

4) And then try to restart whole system once and try again.

Hi,

I tried to follow all your advise but still get the error in the start engine phase. Still stuck in that phase. The JAVA status is UNKNOWN. I also tried to follow the notes for the parameters. I added the parameters but still error persists.

Can anyone help me resolve this issue?

Thank you!

Hi,

Un-installation JAVA what you installed your machine & Remove JAVA_HOME path from your environment.

Then Restart the installation.

Hello Almira,

Did you manually tried starting Java Engine?

if not give it a try & the phase will pass through in the SAPINST.

if this doesnt solve the problem just stop & start the SAPINST.

let us know the outcome of these efforts.

Thank you!

First check log files for AS Java instance to find the root cause of issue (as already wrote).

Hi Roman,

Please check your Java version using command java -fullversion or java -version. And check value  of  environment variable JAVA_HOME using command echo %JAVA_HOME%

Hello AJ,

I think in Windows you can stop/start it via MMC.

Hi Almira,

if you installed java and added the env variable after you started sapinst you will need to close sapinst and relog on seeing that it is windows for it to start using the java, and try again as suggested by Johan

also upload the dev_server0 as welll as dev_disp as suggested by Vimal.

Another suggestion would be to upgrade the kernel, this has helped me in the past

Best Regards

Would also like to add that this should be a System environmental variable, so any user in the system can leverage it; not just the ID that you are currently logged in with.

Hi Marius,

I have restarted the sapinst after entering the environment variable. Attached is the dev_disp file.

Thank you!

Hi Almira,

for the java version you can have a look at this tread

Answer from Sunny

Please download Java SDK 1.4 from below link and then try:
