ML closing error (KI100) re: 201/202 movements with diff CoCd. and diff currencies

Hello Experts,

Subject: WIP/Consumption Revaluation

We have posted 201/202 movements from a plant in CoCd A to a cost center belonging to CoCd B.  Both company codes have different currencies.

Our Material Ledger configuration for Movement Types 201, 202 has assigned Movement Type Group CC (revaluation to Original Account Assignment).to these movement types.

While the transactions post without errors, material ledger closing entries throws an error: "The CO account assignment object belongs to company code A, not B".

SAP Note 624377 says that a solution to the above scenario is possible only if the currencies of the two company codes are the same.

While tinkering with the assignment of movement type groups we noticed that changing the Movement Type Group assignment for 201, 202 to BLANK (Collective Account Assignment) results in Material Ledger closing without errors.

Business would prefer to have consumption revaluations posted to the Original Account Assignments for these movements.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Cheers,

TD

Hi Toidi,

A cross-company code actual price subsequent allocation via the material ledger is generally not supported in the SAP standard system.

The note 624377 makes it possible only if the companies have the same currencies.

Unfortunately the Material Ledger functionality cannot cover this special scenario of cross-company-code postings.

In order to go on with the period end closing, you can run 'Post closing' step without setting the indicator 'Set CO.Account Assignment'.

By this there will be revaluated only the consumption account, but not the cost center. In CO the revaluation would then be posted to the default account assigned to this cost element.

regards

Waman

Waman,

Thank you very much for pointing out the solution.

We decided not to use movement type groups at all and thus post all consumption revaluations to Collective Account assignments.  This doesn't throw any errors during ML closing.

Cheers,

TD

Hi...

I think that SAP don’t allow Movement type group ‘CC’ in cross-company.

After you execute material ledger closing using movement
type group blank, y
ou create below adjustment FI document using G/L Posting function.

ML FI

Document => DR) COC account XXXXXXX    CR) PRV-PSL/PRY-PSL/KDV-PSL account XXXXXX

Adjustment FI
Document => DR) original account XXXXXX CR) COC account XXXXXXXXX

Choi,

Thanks for your help.

Your answer is correct also.

Since our objective was to have cost center posting to measure consumption revaluation effect, we decided to drop using movement type groups altogether.
