Dust emission tracking through EC 3.0

Hello,

Could please provide your comments and possibility to map below scenario in EC3.0

Dust emission, in the cement plant there are many dust emission tracking devices installed, the SAP EC application should be able to read the readings from these devices and should populate with relevant reference whether the dust emission is within the norm or beyond to take necessary action.

Thanks

Sunil,

There are some factors relevant to the use of EC for this type of scenario:

1. Is the dust limit instantaneous (eg. mg/mg3 of air) or for a time period (eg. mg/m3 measured over an hour)?  If it is for a time period what is the period?  EC can realistically only take data on 15 min intervals. With shorter time periods the data volume is more than EC is realistically going to be able to manage.

2. What is the timeframe for reaction to an excedence of a limit?  If the timeframe to react to a limit exceedence is short and the response is to make changs in the plant operation then often it is better to have the dust emisison devices connect to the plant control system/data historian.

Often it would be that the dust monitors are connected to the data historian/control system and then either (or both) periodic data is uploaded and/or only exceptions (ie excedences) are sent to EC.

Regards,

Michael
